The situation in Greece is a great illustration of how a Jupiter transit isn’t necessarily a good thing. Jupiter is at 17 degrees of Pisces in the 1974 Greece chart and in the sky at 19 degrees: the Greeks are on a Jupiter return as Jupiter in the sky returns to its place in their natal chart. Jupiter expands and enlarges everything it touches and here we can see it in the 9th house of international relations. But this is a relatively fast moving transit and Greece has been in dire straits for some time.

Greece with 2010 Aries ingress
Other major transits have been Saturn on the 4th house Moon Pluto conjunction in Libra, and transiting Pluto square that Saturn in the sky, so also squaring that 4th house conjunction. Venus in Cancer in the Greek chart is square to the Moon Pluto conjunction and so is also being picked up by the transiting Saturn Pluto square. Saturn has been making a series of oppositions to Uranus – Uranus having recently transited the Greek MC – and is now moving back to oppose Uranus for the fourth time on 26th April at 28 degree of Virgo/Pisces. Mars at the time of the equinox was also at its station direct – the point at which it stops before it moves forward – and this was right on top of the Greek Sun at 0 degrees Leo, on the second house cusp; the second house is to do with money, finance and rescources.
This is list of substantial body blows and we haven’t mentioned Neptune yet, which is opposite the Greek Mars pouring water and confusion on any attempts to focus and organise. Mars is on the cusp of the third house – where we find our neighbours – and little support is being given from their fellow Euro zone members or EU members.
The cardinal explosion – thanks to Rob Hand for the phrase – will increase the pressure on the Greek chart. It focuses on their Venus square Moon Pluto and brings in the ascendant and MC/IC. In plain words that’s their appearance and their status; their people, the country itself and their achievements. As Saturn moves on into Libra towards the end of 2010 it will move to conjoin the ascendant. If there is any major constitutional or organisation change to the nature of Greece it will likely happen then. In the meantime the pressure keeps on rising, but come June we will all be feeling the heat.
