Paula Radcliffe and the New York Marathon 2004

6 November 2004

Can I first say that I admire Paula Radcliffe immensely. There was no one more pleased than me when she tore apart the field of the European and Commonwealth Championships a few years back and her treatment of the London marathon was just astounding. However those feats were achieved under a transit of Saturn to her Sun.

Currently Saturn is transiting her Moon and Mars. As we don't know her time of birth we don't know exactly where her Moon is but it will be between 17 Cancer and 2 Leo, but her Mars is most definitely at 27 Aries and this point will be firmly in the sights of the Mars Saturn square in the sky when she lines up for the New York marathon.

Saturn was at 22 Cancer when she dropped out of the Olympic Marathon; the description she gave of her experience - leaden legs, no energy - sounds pretty Saturn Moon, indicating a Moon position in the early twenty's of Cancer. This time, not only is her Moon probably still within orb of transiting Saturn but her Mars symbolising energy, muscles and vitality is also affected.

Pluto is also directly on her Sun, which might not make for the best psychological state. The Sun symbolises our idea of our own identity and Pluto pulls those illusions down. I wish Paula luck but tomorrow's race may not be the most enjoyable for her.
