Thoughts for November 2004

Monday, 29th November 2004

Mercury begins its retrograde journey tomorrow; it's not just in Sagittarius, which doesn't aid its effecacy but also going backwards and at the midpoint between Mars and Neptune. Don't sign any contracts relating to gun running over the next few days.

Monday, 22nd November 2004

With the Sun now in Sagittarius we might expect things to lighten up a bit; no more intense Scorpionic brooding and plotting revenge. However, the Moon made a trine to the Sun yesterday, but did it at the very end of the water signs Scorpio and Pisces, and this may drag out the emotional histrionics. Putting water and fire together gives you steam. More steam in the sauna will come from Venus moving into Scorpio this afternoon leaving Jupiter the only planet in air - objective? Moi? Mars rules the day, and the next few days, as it is the final dispositor of all the planets - it has its hands firmly on the steering wheel - allowing it to set the agenda and chair the meeting. Expect a turbulent week as Uranus gets in on the act and we move towards a retrograde Mercury next week.

Thursday, 18th November 2004

Venus is particularly well placed at the moment, not only is she dignified in Libra but she is conjunct one of the few benefic fixed stars: Spica. The Moon will trine her during the course of of today and, as I said below, the Sun is now moving to complete its trine to Saturn and Jupiter to complete its trine to Neptune. This sounds very cosy but we must remember that this small oasis of peace is taking place against a back drop of considerable unrest; look at it more as the tender moment at the end of act II rather than good over coming evil at the end of act V. Look out for the early hours of 24 November to bring us back to the main plot: Sun square Uranus and Venus conjunct node opposite Moon.

Monday, 15th November 2004

Today we have Mars trine to Uranus, while Mars is conjunct the south node. Venus reaches the degree of the previous solar eclipse and it is also sextile to Pluto. Trines and sextiles indicate an easy flow of energy; not necessarily good but easy. And we all know how easy some bad things can seem. The Sun is moving towards the trine with Saturn later in the week which could bring some much needed stability but Jupiter is also applying to trine Neptune so the sky's the limit. We have about a week of Venus in Libra and Mars in Scorpio before Venus moves into Scorpio where she is under orders from Mars and not at all happy. This week it's down to us all to get some guidelines established: diplomacy can work when we have a firm Mars backing up a gracious Venus.

Tuesday, 9th November 2004

Someone asked me last night what happened to the lovely Venus Jupiter conjunction on Friday? No one could remember anything particularly nice, although we were very familiar with the events which could be traced back to the Mars Saturn square. Perhaps it's true that just as the good news doesn't get reported, perhaps we also don't notice the good stuff quite so readily.

Mars is now in its last few days in Libra before it becomes über dignified in early Scorpio. This wont be until Thursday morning and, just to add to the fireworks, it will be joined by the Moon at 0 Scorpio. In the meantime, lets home the reflective influences of Venus, Jupiter and the Moon in Libra trine to Neptune in Aquarius will counter the tantrums of Mars in Libra and Saturn in Cancer.

Saturday, 6th November 2004

Hands up all those who aren't flying off the handle for no real reason today? You're part of a select few if you can rise above the Mars square Saturn atmosphere. This aspect brings together the two malefics in the signs of their detriment - they're not only bad they're unhappy too. Essential dignity isn't a measure of good or bad, it's a measure of how well the planet can express itself in a particular sign. Mars can't do its stuff when concerned with the niceties of diplomacy, that's Venus's job, and Saturn can't lay down the line when worried about how everyone feels. Practice counting to ten and lets hope that those in charge of the military do the same.

Paula Radcliffe and the New York Marathon 2004

Thursday, 4th November 2004

Bush wins. Nobody wanted to say it, but it's now done. Yesterday saw the legal challenges which ended with Kerry throwing in the towel by later afternoon but don't forget that Mars is still applying to square Saturn and that wont perfect until Sunday and that's also Saturn's station. If Bush thinks he's nailed the lessons of his second Saturn return he could be in for a nasty shock.

Wednesday, 3rd November 2004

Those lunar aspects really string things out don't they? The Moon won't perfect its square to Mars until 5.30 GMT which is 12.30 EST. I don't think we'll have a real idea of what's happening until then.

The real winners, of course, are the American people who showed their commitment to their democracy in no uncertain terms. They should be an inspiration to their leaders. The Mercury Saturn trine picked up the Moon - people - of the Sibley chart by square from Mercury and quincunx from Saturn. They over came obstacles - square - and adjusted - quincunx - with the best of them.

There are claims that it will be another eleven days before a certain winner can be established. This will coincide roughly with Mars's movement from detriment in Libra to rulership in Scorpio. Mars in the early degrees of Scorpio is exceptionally strong and may bring some firm resolution that the uncomfortable Mars in Libra can't bring.

Queen lays wreath in Germany

Tuesday, 2nd November 2004

Election day at last. Hopefully, very soon we will know who the next leader of the free(?) world will be. An easy trine of Mercury in Scorpio to Saturn in Cancer will aid the process, bringing intense communication and discipline together in a productive aspect. Emotions will run high and I wouldn't count out some altercations at the polls where people worry that they wont be able to vote in time. The Moon is strong in its own sign of Cancer which will give strength to the people and the process, particularly as Cancer is so strong in the American chart.

Three exciting aspects from the Moon will take place tomorrow as it squares Mars, Mercury and Saturn. This may indicate forceful words and deeds tomorrow.
