This is the first opportunity I've had to put this story up. I did the notes for it immediately after the event but you'll have to trust me that I haven't used hind sight to plug in the gaps.

Capricorn Ingress 2006

The winter solstice occurs when the Sun reaches 0° Capricorn. This moment can then be set for any location: the planets’ position will remain the same but the angles and houses will change as you move around the world.

Looking at the chart set for London we can see the angles of the 1801 United Kingdom chart are repeated – unlike the New Year chart which will always have the same angles this is not necessarily the case for a solstice chart and we can draw significance from this. Saturn is also conjunct its position in the 1801 chart – we’re having a Saturn return – and several other planets are in similar positions either zodiacally or by house position. There is a general air of continuity and no great change. Mercury is closely conjunct its 1801 zodiacal position and in the third house; the Sun conjunct the IC; Saturn is in the eleventh house.

Mars and Uranus are exactly square. To the minute. Ruling the third and seventh and being in Sagittarius one could make predictable comments about a threat from abroad but you could also see this as indicative of our brave warriors abroad. As the news stories from Iraq and Afghanistan roll in we can only comfort ourselves by thinking of our sporting endeavours, also symbolised by Mars. Anyone for cricket?

The rulerships and receptions are rather interesting. Everything is ruled by either Jupiter, Saturn or the Sun and for the UK Saturn is the only planet above the horizon; also the only retrograde planet.

As I have said, this Saturn is conjunct the 1801 Saturn, and I believe its sole occupancy of the upper hemisphere, although he does have hayz here – diurnal planet, masculine sign, above the horizon at night – even though he is in the sign of his detriment, is adding to the stuck feeling prevalent in the UK. Jupiter, Saturn and the Sun means we’re talking about the establishment and leaders. Blair is still clinging to power and has not given any indication of when he will move over.

Jupiter and Saturn also signify the law – the spirit and the enforcement – and any funny business could start to come out. There is still the matter of cash for questions, arms to Saudi Arabia and the state of the home office to be resolved. These examples are not exclusive.

As I said, the planetary positions and aspects are fixed for everyone but the houses and house rulerships are not and will move from location to location. A few interesting positions which change with location are Saturn on the MC in Tehran, Neptune on the IC in Baghdad and Saturn on the second house cusp in Washington DC. It’s possible that these are interrelated and the disintegration of the Iraq situation and tightening of focus around Tehran will pull on US purse strings.
