New Moon 28 February 2006
A new moon conjunct Uranus takes us into the middle of the year. Saturn is
about to station at 4 Leo, Mercury is about to station retrograde at 28 Pisces,
Jupiter is about to station retrograde: writing this I get the feeling that
the pieces are being recalled into their positions for Act 2 following the interval,
that the five minutes to performance bell has rung and the cast are getting
ready for curtain up.
Jupiter has made its first touch to Neptune but not to Saturn. The line up
of these three planets climaxes in the summer with Mars, Saturn, Jupiter, Chiron
and Pluto bunching up around the 18th June and the Leo full moon on 8 August
bring the Sun Moon opposition tightly in line with the Saturn Neptune opposition.
Looking at the planets involved points us easily to the matter of power, resources
and oil but we need to look more deeply to go beyond what our own prejudices
bring to mind. It is too easy to write hysterical accounts of how we're all
doomed. We need to consider all factors and judge with a clear head.
Jupiter is in Scorpio and has no essential dignity in its current position.
When it back to the 14th degree it will be in it's own terms, currently it is
in the terms of Venus, but this does little to counter the weight of dignity
that its ruler has: Mars is highly dignified having rulership by sign, triplicity.
Jupiter will also be in the face of Mars when it reaches 10 Scorpio.
Given that Mars has such influence with Jupiter we should look to see what
condition it's in. Mars has no essential dignity in Gemini, a sign which is
ruled by Mercury and mars is also in the terms of Mercury and the face of Jupiter;
depending on whether it is day or night it's in its own triplicity or that of
Saturn.
If we look in turn at Mercury we see little to encourage us as it's in Pisces,
the sign of its detriment, and about to station retrograde and is in turn ruled
by Jupiter, which we have already considered. We can see here a circle of influence,
a chain of despositors and as none of the planets have any essential dignity
we could liken this to the blind leading the blind.
As well as Jupiter, Mars and Mercury we also mentioned Saturn and Venus. How
are they doing?
Saturn is in the sign of its detriment but it is in its own terms and face.
This could be likened to someone who has been given a second chance but is still
carrying a terrible reputation. Venus is in Saturn ruled signs for March and
has no major dignity but will be in its own terms and face in some of the early
degrees of Aquarius.
So nothing to ease our minds here. What we're trying to assess is which planets
are dominant, which planets have influence with which other planets and of these
planets which has more dignity; who's judgement is to be trusted and we can
see this from the assessment of their essential dignity. If these were people
we would probably not trust their judgement.
Mars is the planet on so many people's minds so it makes sense to look at its
movement and other things it does. When it moves to the end of Gemini it will
form a square with Pluto. Then it will move into Cancer, the sign of its fall,
form a trine with Uranus and Jupiter completing a grand trine in water and when
it enters Leo will conjunct Saturn at the same time as Saturn squares Jupiter.
The full moon is also an eclipse at 24 Pisces which picks up Pluto. What ever
story is unfolding here we should become more familiar with its themes by then.
The situation in Iran may be at the heart of what ever unfolds. It has planets
in Pisces which will be picked up by the Mercury station and the Mars Pluto
square. There have been speculations that the new oil exchange which will conduct
its business in Euros will affect the USA's strategy and also the world economy.
The Jupiter Saturn square is associated with economic and material matters.
The underlying thread of the Jupiter Saturn conjunction in Taurus in 2000 having
been picked up by the stations of Mars's retrograde motion last year gives us
cause for following that train of thought. We await developments.
