Thoughts for October 2007
Fruits of our labours?
6 October 2007
Just to let you know about a couple of articles I've just
done. You can have a look the astrology of what's going on
in Burma or see
how Waltham
Forest Council is tramping on William Morris's grave.
Those of you who live in East London will probably know of
the campaign to keep the William Morris House and Vestry House
museums open. Walthamstow
Folk regulars Roger Huddle and Ros Kane have done fabulous
work to keep the threats to these cultural treasures at bay.
Please have a look at their website: Keep
Our Museums Open and see if there's anything which you
can do to contribute.
The latest, bleakest news was announced this morning: here.
Looks like I can pay for the Olympics through my local taxes
but I'm not allowed to contribute to preserving my local heritage.
Apologies for being a bit emotional but this is just so much
bo***cks.

You might like to look at the astronomy for this month here.
This year - 2007 - has been extremely strange. As I sit here
on the equinox, getting my site up to date, I look back on
a year with great highs and lows. Thankfully the end and beginning
were better than the middle. Perhaps Saturn in Virgo will
straighten me out rather than killing me? Something tells
me I'd better not put money on that.
We can already see the beginning of Saturn's message: "Take
care of your food and water supply and the environment."
We've already had two seasons of eclipses in Virgo and Pisces
sowing these seeds. No pun intended, but we harvest what we
sow and now it's time to see what grew in the field. Only
a particularly stupid farmer would not pay attention to their
crops until harvest time. Surely it's obvious that you should
check that the crop you thought you'd sown is the one that's
growing? Don't you check for weeds, that nutrient and moisture
are sufficient but not excessive?
I may be pushing the farming metaphor a little - but I have
five planets in Virgo so I think I'm allowed - but isn't it
a little late to wait until you see there is a problem before
you start to worry. Don't you think about worst case scenarios
and have a plan just in case?
Since Saturn entered Virgo, midway through the eclipses in
Virgo/Pisces, I've heard and seen many reports of problems
with food supplies. Agriculture implicitly concerns water
as you can't grow much when it's arid and dry. Not just in
the UK but in the US also. This is just the latest report
I've seen in the New
York Times. This effect will be reinforced in the new
year when both Jupiter and Pluto move into Capricorn. Earth
signs demand practical solutions.
You can also see Virgo type trouble in the amount of news
coverage of the NHS - National Health Service - in the UK
and the various problems emerging concerning public sector
pay. All service industries will feel Saturn's presence.
Earth isn't particularly imaginative. It doesn't follow a
vision. This can shed some light on the recent financial problems
in the UK. Northern Rock - a Saturn in Virgo name if ever
I saw one - was forced to go to the Bank of England for a
short term loan and this precipitated a panic amongst its
customers. Modern financial systems are based on confidence
not physical money. Something like 80% of money doesn't actually
physically exist, it's just a number in a bank account. Just
the kind of fancy idea which Saturn in earth is seriously
uncomfortable with. This could be a problem as Jupiter and
Saturn are due to trine each other from Capricorn to Virgo
next year. Especially worrying is that these aspects are part
of a series which began in fire with Jupiter in Sagittarius
and Saturn in Leo. The outgoing trine is an expansive phase
usually assoicated with increased economic activity. The UK,
however, is heavily dependent on consumer debt. We've already
had a blip in house prices - another earth idea.
We may have a clue about what will happen next when we have
the final Jupiter Uranus square later in October. This shocks
us out of our comfort zone. Lets hope that we don't land in
the stinging nettles.
