Sagittarius to Capricorn/Jupiter to Saturn
30 December 2007
I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and that you're gearing
up to celebrate the New Year appropriately. Since I wrote
the Thoughts for December I've
had some further ideas which I'd like to present to you about
the movement of planets from Sagittarius to Capricorn.
What we're looking at here is essentially the shifting of
the balance from Jupiter to Saturn, from vision and potential
to can-do and achievement. Jupiter is a fire sign, centred
on the future, in the realm of the imagination, on vision,
potential, ideals, inspiration, the transcendent; Capricorn
is an earth sign, centred on the physical world, on practicality,
productiveness, achievement, mastery, duty, the real, measurable
outcomes, the here and now. It's the difference between talking
the talk and walking the walk. What we've chatted about -
Sag - we must now implement - Cap.
Both of these signs are associated with the idea of hierarchy.
Jupiter is King of the Gods after all, and Saturn is his dad.
Deposed, but his dad never-the-less. Sag loves to roam and
climb far off mountains, Cap loves to scrabble to the top
of the pile. What is changing is the application of our ideas.
What has been discussed but now be implemented.
Now, of the planets which are changing signs, the ones we
need to consider are Jupiter and Pluto. Jupiter spends around
a year in each sign, Pluto spends anything from 10 - 20 years
depending where it is in its orbit. Pluto entered Sagittarius
in 1995, so has been there for 12 years. It will stay in Capricorn
until 2024 when it moves into Aquarius.
In addition to the planets changing signs we have the planets
Jupiter and Saturn in the trine phase of their cycle. This
is unusual as there are five exact aspects between the two
planets and they change element: the first two are in fire
with Jupiter in Sagittarius and Saturn in Leo and the further
three are in earth with Jupiter in Capricorn and Saturn in
Virgo. This appears to be another note of this fire to earth
transference. What was previously dreamlike, must now be realise.
Also, what was once inspired is now a bit more like hard work;
what was blessed could now be cursed; what was a vision of
the gods now has real physical consequences. What we thought
was infinite is now seen to be finite. And I'm not just saying
that because I have a lefty environmentalist agenda. I do
try to keep the astrology separate while I'm drawing my conclusions.
Capricorn is associated with business, it is, after all,
the ultimate expression of cardinal earth, mastery of the
physical world. It has been suggested that Pluto moving into
this sign would elevate the power of business even higher
and that we would move away from the nation state and current
ideas of government and into the reign of the Uber Multi National.
That the role of business will be drastically changed is widely
accepted but if we think back to the recent passage of Uranus
and Neptune through Capricorn then we may not see things in
quite the same way. Many Saturnian structures were undermined
during this period including the Berlin Wall which collapsed
at the time of the tight Saturn Neptune conjunction and wider
conjunction of Uranus. The model of leadership, both political
and in business, changed during this period. It has been noted
that the number of twelfth house Suns in the charts of national
leaders has increased over the last twenty years.
What does seem to be beyond argument is that the limits of
a finite material existence will be the ultimate challenge
which we must face in our immediate future.
