It was forty years ago today...
Sgt Pepper, possibly one of the most influential albums ever
released, is 40 today. The chart is for 9am - when the shops
open - and shows Jupiter and Saturn angular which is fitting
for something which changed the way we thought about "pop"
albums.
This has taken longer to produce, had brought in orchestration,
pushed the boundaries with art work and generally pushed the
creative doors wide open. Jupiter in Leo is conjunct the ascendant:
that surely speaks of making an entrance. Even if we don't
have the correct time, Jupiter is still in the early degrees
of Leo. What is even more profound emerges when you consider
the charts of the individual beatles who all have significant
points at 1 - 5 degrees Leo. This was certainly a peak achievement
for those involved.
There is also an extra sensitive - Moon, Venus, Neptune -
grand trine in water, fitting for such a melodic album, which
brings in the Uranus Pluto conjunction to make a kite, a formation
with great direction and focus. No wonder this is seen as
one of the defining albums of the sixties.
