The Astrological Planets
The driving forces in astrology
The word planet comes from the ancient word for wanderer. The planets
can be seen moving against the background of the Fixed Stars. For
astrological purposes we include the Sun and the Moon when we talk
about the Planets, although we are quite aware that they are not
astronomical planets. To lessen this confusion, some astrologers
refer to the Sun and the Moon as The Lights or the Luminaries.
The planets are the most important piece of the astrological puzzle,
symbolising major energies and can be likened to the what of astrological
language. They show what is happening. The Signs show how, and the
Houses show where.
